Volunteering Programme

Since the organisation relies heavily on volunteers to deliver its activities Newark has always valued and supported the development of young people as volunteers.  Today, Newark runs a volunteer programme for young people and adults from both within Newark and outside of the organisation.

Aims of the Volunteer Programme

To provide opportunities for young people to learn, experience, develop their capacity and skills by volunteering in a range of exciting opportunities

To develop the next set of volunteers to run our projects and become part of the management committee

Many of Newark’s past and present members developed into their respective roles through volunteering.  Newark helps capacity build the volunteers with project management, public speaking and organisational skills.  Volunteers receive free training and ongoing coaching and mentoring to develop and improve their skills. Many use the experience and skills to go onto further education, training or into paid employment.

The Newark Management Committee is made of volunteers who have progressed from the football teams and other clubs and projects to become volunteers taking on various different responsibilities. The organisation has a string ethos around volunteering and the primary method of its so far successful sustainability.

Newark has also worked with National Volunteering agency ‘V Involved’ to run a structured volunteering programme to recruit & train over 50 volunteers who have gone back into the community & the organisation to volunteer. Newark continuously delivers training course to improve the skills of it volunteers & members.

Newark is a member of Volunteer Centre Tower Hamlets and works in partnership with other volunteering organisations in the borough to improve and increase volunteering in the community.
